The Chicken Shack and Hula Boogie are organising an all-day event this Sunday at the Renaissance Rooms on Wandsworth Road, Vauxhall. The vintage/retro/rockabilly/ market will be on 12-5pm before Lew Lewis and the Twilight Trio carry the party on into the evening. Find out more from Hula Boogie.
If you want to go slightly further back in time, the Blitz Party on Saturday night might be your cup of tea. Turn up from 7pm for a dance class, or later if you just want to party in a 1940s bunker. Tickets are available online.
And if you want to go even further back, Coca-Cola has opened the Contour Anniversary Bar at 14 Greek Street to celebrate 100 years of the contour bottle. From Thursday to Saturday, guests will transported back to 1915, and will also be able to view historic Coca-Cola artwork, period design and contemporary entertainment. The bar will be open 2pm – 8pm on Thursday and 11am – 8pm on Friday and Saturday.
And of course, for a slightly more modern retrospective, I have to recommend the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A. If you didn’t get tickets online, you can buy tickets on the day at the museum. (It’s recommended you arrive at 10am for the best chance of securing your tickets, but a minimum of 200 tickets per day will be available).
